01 July 2011 - EXTENSION - Call for Papers for DMISA Conference 2011 The deadline for the submission of abstracts for Disaster Risk reduction 2011 has been extended from Fri 1 July to Fri 8 July 2011.The mailed notices containing the Invitation and Call for Papers went out too late- reaching members by only approx. 20-22 June, whereas it was intended to be mailed by 27May.

15 Jun 2011 - Review of the SA Disaster Management Act DMISA is committed to supporting the Disaster Management profession and to maintain and develop the Disaster Management community of practice. As the mouthpiece for the profession in Southern Africa, DMISA endeavours to play an active role in legislation and policy development in the field of Disaster Management within Southern Africa. In South Africa, the National Disaster Management Centre has embarked on a process to consider changes to the foundation Disaster Management legislation in the country, being the Disaster Management Act of 2002 (Act 57 of 2002).

DMISA is therefore providing a channel for its members and interested parties to comment on proposed changes to the Act
